BROAD CREEK MIDDLE PHYSICAL EDUCATION
The purpose of the Physical Education program at Broad Creek Middle is to contribute to the major components of the Healthful Living Education Curriculum. In order to accomplish the objectives of our program we have set up rules and procedures, which we believe are necessary to facilitate the education of each individual student.
Dressing for Physical Education:
Students are required to wear Tennis Shoes, NO SANDALS, NO FLIP FLOPS, NO LOAFERS. If student fails to dress, he or she will not be allowed to participate.
This will lower the daily grade.
1. Dressing out 1 point
2. Participation 1 point
3. 100% Effort 2 points
4. Knowledge/Skill Tests added to total points
Actions that will be taken if student does not dress out and participate:
First time: Warning from teacher
Second time: Minus 2 points of daily grade
Third time: Minus 4 points of daily grade
Four or more times: Sent to Chill-Out and minus 4 points of daily grade
Class Rules:
1. Sit in designated area
2. Listen and follow directions
3. No Gum or Candy
4. Laser lights, cell phones, I pods, etc. are not allowed in PE
5. No jewelry that could injure you or others is permitted
MAKE-UP WORK
Make-up work is the responsibility of the student and must be made up within 5 days of the student returning to school.
ATTENDANCE
Physical Education students who will miss three consecutive days of Physical Activity need a note from a doctor.
LOCKER ROOMS
TEACHERS ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ITEMS LEFT IN THE LOCKER ROOM.
Locker rooms are a privilege and can be taken away at anytime throughout the school year. Locker rooms need to remain neat and items stored in the correct place.
Students are suggested to purchase locks to insure items are secure.
GRADES
Physical Education is a required course and should receive the same emphasis and value as any other subject area. Physical Education grades will be a percent and will count on student’s GPA.
Grades will be given in percent and will be added to the GPA of the student.

Total points may vary with extra tests and quizzes
CORRECTIVE MEASURES
Any student that does not participate in Physical Education will be required to read and write summaries. Students need to complete and turn in written assignments to their teacher. To insure that progress is maintained the school wide discipline plan will be followed. (Please refer to the Broad Creek Middle Handbook) GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP WILL BE PRACTICED AT ALL TIMES.
SPECIAL PHYSICAL CONDITIONS
Any special condition, which could limit a student’s ability to participate, should be brought to the attention of the teacher by means of a written explanation from a medical doctor or guardian. A child must be released with a parent or doctor’s note to return back to physical activity.
